Best Friends by Sheri The Original Calming Shag Fur Donut Cuddler Cat & Dog Bed
A great classic donut style bed that may fly under the radar. This particular bed seems to be marketed more to dog owners, but we’ve discovered it is one of Mr. Socks’ favorite hangout spots, so we’ll break down the details in this review and explain why it is one of our top ranked cat beds.
Material and Construction – 3/5 beans
Overall, this is a well-made bed with quality materials. After all, it is middle of the pack in the cost range for donut style beds. It does not shed, which is rare with a shag style bed, so that does tell you something about the build quality. The bed is machine washable and tumbled dried, but is unfortunately one whole piece that cannot be disassembled. It is unclear how many times this bed can handle being washed before losing its plush feel, but we have put ours through the wash cycle a number of times at this point and it has held up so far.
Comfort and Security – 5/5 beans
This bed is so plush and soft, if they made a human sized one, we would probably consider buying one for ourselves! But seriously, the comfort level of this bed seems to be stellar. Socks will spend all day napping in this bed. He’ll get up for this midday snack then once he is finished, he will crawl right back in this bed and continue napping, so that really speaks to the overall comfortability of this bed. Donut style beds are made for your cat to curl up in the middle so the side walls cave back in toward them, hugging their bodies and increasing your cat’s overall security and this bed does indeed do that. The overall padding level is enough for you to keep this bed on a hardwood floor. Not to mention the overall bed really feels luxurious, like petting a soft bunny or a stuffed animal.
Value – 4/5 beans
The cost of this bed is around what you’d expect to pay for a quality donut style cat bed. It is right in the middle of the overall range. With that in mind, the value in comfort, construction and overall aesthetics of this bed yield high marks in our book. This cat bed looks luxurious enough to not look out of place in a high-end downtown city loft, but laid back and cozy enough to right at home in a country cabin.
You can see he is zonked out in the cover photo. This bed is probably his favorite winter spot when the Los Angeles weather cools down a bit. It keeps him warm and he will stay curled up in it for pretty much the entire day when he’s in full on nap mode. If he isn’t napping on this bed, he will make biscuits on this bed all day. Something about the soft touch and fur must mimic his mother and queue’s up his instinctual happy paws. This bed is definitely Socks Approved.
Overall Rating – 4/5 beans
Overall we gave this bed a four bean rating due to its price point and the maximum level of comfort this bed seems to give Mr. Socks. It is tough to beat something as versatile and good-looking as this luxurious looking bed at the mid-range cost it is sold at. Would we recommend this bed? Definitely.
